SeaWorld Yas Island, Abu Dhabi is built on five indoor levels, with a total area of approximately 183,000sqm. The park contains more than 58 million liters of water and is home to more than 150 species of marine animals. All habitats at SeaWorld Yas Island, Abu Dhabi provide the animals in our care with an enriching environment where they can thrive. Thanks to advanced technology, we can simulate the water currents, wave movements, temperature and lighting conditions of the animals’ natural environments. An Advanced Animal Lighting System (AALS) simulates the natural sun by recreating night, day, and seasonal light cycles precisely like those found in the animals natural environments.

The park’s animals are cared for by an expert and experienced team of dedicated zoologists, veterinarians, nutritionists, and animal specialists who share a passion and commitment to maintaining the health and wellbeing of the animals in their care.
SeaWorld has helped more than 40,000 animals to date, rescuing, rehabilitating sick, injured, stranded, and orphaned marine animals around the world, 24/7, 365 days a year, always with the goal of returning healthy animals back to their natural environment. No. SeaWorld Yas Island, Abu Dhabi does not feature orcas/killer whales.
Although orcas/killer whales are not part of the Marine Life Theme Park, we offer opportunities to educate the community and raise awareness about this inspiring animal alongside other marine life species.

SeaWorld Yas Island, Abu Dhabi is a fully-indoor attraction. Our 8 immersive realms reflect realistic living conditions of the animals’ natural environments, which includes light and temperature changes throughout the seasons.
While you will encounter tropical temperatures in some realms, such as Tropical Ocean, you will encounter a colder climate in our Polar realms Arctic and Antarctica. It is advised to dress in layers or bring a jacket to adapt to the different temperatures throughout the Park. Climate appropriate apparel is also available for purchase in the SeaWorld Yas Island, Abu Dhabi retail stores.

The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center is led by expert marine conservationists and ecologists, focusing on indigenous Arabian Gulf and marine life ecosystems. The center is supported by SeaWorld’s legacy of nearly 60 years in animal care, rescue, rehabilitation and scientific study - joining a network of three facilities in the USA, with an astounding over 40,000 rescues to date and expanding the scale of one of the world’s largest marine animal rescue efforts in operation.

- What is animal rescue and rehabilitation?The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center provides care for local marine wildlife through cutting-edge rescue and rehabilitation facilities including specialized equipment, rescue boats, a shared necropsy facility, a leading veterinary hospital and is led by a team of rescue operations subject-matter experts. Supporting the development of a strong Rescue Network, the center works alongside its partners with relevant authorities to rescue, rehabilitate and return marine animals to their natural habitats.

The center seeks to encourage the public’s commitment to marine conservation and foster the next generation of marine scientists and conservationists by raising awareness of marine life and advancing marine sciences in the UAE through partnerships with higher education institutions.
The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center’s Education program, provided in collaboration with SeaWorld Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, aims to conduct educational workshops and lectures as well as provide a dedicated curriculum at the center to familiarize the young generation with marine sciences and marine wildlife. The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center also hosts special events such as seminars and science talks covering a wide range of topics related to marine sciences, with local and top international marine scientists. The center’s Education team hosts local and international students who carry out their studies in marine and veterinary sciences with our team of experts.
Additionally, as a part of our commitment to conservation and preservation, our education outreach programs include organizing beach clean-ups, mangrove forest replanting and several other active conservation projects that ultimately leave a positive mark on the community and the preservation of various species. - What kind of research is conducted by The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center?The center’s Research team conducts fundamental and applied studies focusing on the marine ecology of the Gulf covering topics such as marine biodiversity, ecosystem resilience, sensitive wildlife conservation, critical habitats restoration, fisheries, pollution, and wildlife health. The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center also carries out applied research studies for marine ecosystem restoration with aquaculture-based projects including fish breeding, seagrass cultivation, coral reproduction as well as field projects focusing on critical habitats of Abu Dhabi waters (seagrass, mangroves, oyster beds, coral reefs). The center will also launch a project on seagrass, which is one the most important marine habitats of the Gulf. The aim of this project is to develop seagrass cultivation methodologies that would allow the UAE to develop large-scale restoration projects for this critical ecosystem.
